Variable QR Code Insertion

You can insert variable QR codes onto your mailpiece using the Click2Mail Mailing Online document editor. This enables use of Personalized URLs (PURLs) and drives additional personalization of a mailpiece. We have an article about why you might want to use PURLs in our Knowledge Base that you can reference for more information about PURLs.

To insert a personalized QR code on each mailpiece, follow these instructions. Instructions assume you have uploaded a document and uploaded a mailing list to your Click2Mail account, and associated the list with that document.

With the document opened up in the editor, click the Text icon from the menu on the left. The Text icon is a capital letter T.

Use your mouse to drag and draw a text box on the mail piece. Then, click on it to open the text box control box and click {M, the mail merge icon. A list of headers from your mailing list will appear in a menu. Select the field that includes the URL in your mailing list. When you do that, the name of the header will pop into your text box.

Then, click tT, the Format Text icon and click on QR code.

Click “Add” when prompted to confirm insertion of the QR code.

The QR code will plop on your mailpiece. You can use your mouse to adjust the size and location of the QR code. Make sure you do not skew the image proportions - this will ruin the scannability of the code.

Save your document and proceed with additional edits. You can then continue making additional edits or proceed through the order process if ready.

Remember to test the QR code when you review your job proof and approve the proof. By default, you will download three proofs representing the first, middle, and last recipient from your mailing list. We recommend you scan the code on all three proofs so there are no unexpected problems with your mail piece. We will print the proofs exactly as you approve them.
